School Direct is all about developing on the job. You’ll work as part of the teaching team in your placement school from day one, learning from experienced colleagues and putting your new skills into practice straight away.
The training lasts for one academic year, starting in August
Typically, you’ll be in your placement school four days a week, supported by a university link tutor
You’ll spend terms 1 and 3 in your main school, focusing on a specific key stage and train in a contrasting context and key stage during term 2
Core training and Master’s level teaching is scheduled for one day a week throughout the year and takes place in Loughborough and at the University of Derby
You’ll work with an experienced mentor in your placement school throughout the programme
You’ll also spend one week in a special school
On successful completion of the programme you’ll be awarded:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
The University of Derby Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
60 credits towards a Master’s degree
The programme is quality assured by the University of Derby.
Places on the LLA School Direct programme are non-salaried.
The programme fees are £9,200
